We ask that patients resume using the Main Entrance (near the handicap parking area) for entering the building, to have their temperature checked when entering for their appointments. This will allow you to to avoid the area of construction. (Handicap parking will still be accessible)

To assist in the statewide effort to reduce the spread of infectious diseases, and in accordance with various state Executive Orders, Bay Eye Clinic will be operating under the following changes:

Bay Eye Clinic is currently open regular hours.

We are continuing to request, that unless assistance is needed, only the scheduled patient attend the appointment.

We will be screening patients and checking their temperatures, at the entrance facing Broadway Ave., and face coverings are required per the Oregon State Governor and OHA 2288K. (Exemptions are allowed for those with a medical condition or physical disability that prevents wearing a mask.)

Welcome to Bay Eye Clinic!

HISTORY

In 1970 North Bend native John T. Flaxel, M.D., opened his ophthalmology practice in North Bend. The office was located in the office building across from Keizer Hospital on Meade Street. In the same building were North Bend Medical Center, Bay Optical, Bay Pharmacy, Robert Klever, O.D., and Vernon Klever, DDM. In 1975 Arthur F. S. Steele, M.D., joined the practice and the office was enlarged to accommodate 2 full-time ophthalmologists. In 1979 Drs. Flaxel and Steele built a new office building at 3585 Broadway in North Bend and formed Bay Eye Clinic. Jon C. Kintner, M.D., joined the practice in 1989 followed by Dennis E. Ottemiller, M.D., in 1992. Dr. Flaxel semi-retired in 1995 and Debra A. Graham, M.D., joined the practice to assume his patients' care. In 2003 Dr. Steele semi-retired and Jane Gilbert, M.D., assumed his patients' care. Dr. Steele fully retired and moved to Portland in 2005. Dr. Flaxel fully retired in October 2009. Dr. Ottemiller retired in 2018. Dr. Brandon Harr, O.D. will be joining the clinic August of 2020.
