Welcome to Bay Eye Clinic!

History
In 1970 North Bend native John T. Flaxel, M.D., opened his ophthalmology practice in North Bend. The office was located in the office building across from Keizer Hospital on Meade Street. In the same building were North Bend Medical Center, Bay Optical, Bay Pharmacy, Robert Klever, O.D., and Vernon Klever, DDM. In 1975 Arthur F. S. Steele, M.D., joined the practice and the office was enlarged to accommodate 2 full-time ophthalmologists. In 1979 Drs. Flaxel and Steele built a new office building at 3585 Broadway in North Bend and formed Bay Eye Clinic. Jon C. Kintner, M.D., joined the practice in 1989 followed by Dennis E. Ottemiller, M.D., in 1992. Dr. Flaxel semi-retired in 1995 and Debra A. Graham, M.D., joined the practice to assume his patients' care. In 2003 Dr. Steele semi-retired and Jane Gilbert, M.D., assumed his patients' care. Dr. Steele fully retired and moved to Portland in 2005. Dr. Flaxel fully retired in October 2009.

"Every time I have a problem with my glasses ( I'm a clutz and break them alot), I take them to Bay Eye Clinic. They are very nice and quick to help and are usually able to solder them back together. This time however was not going to work out as the frame was too worn, but to my surprise they were able to find a used frame to recycle my old glasses into and at no charge. They've got my biz for life! Thank you so much.Lyn Pinney, The Blanket Lady"

They have been taking care of my daughter since she was 22 months. She's now 26 and wouldn't go anywhere else. Best place to go in our community!
